Mending Fences

Fixing the back Yard fence post today and we were going to fix the front yards post that the gate is mounted to. Then a stupid massive wind and rain storm blew in. Didn't get anything finished.

Damage to the front fence from the stupid storm. 3 panels down and 2 broken posts. Back to the lumber yard for us tomorrow.

I purchased a beautiful 4 pitch hybrid comb and Hackle set w/ an extra 2 pitch large comb for my birthday last year/June. It was packaged with lots of padding/bubble wrap. The Craftmanship is second to none. Each and every part of this set, to include the tines, is made to perfection. I received the set with the Mahogany....Just gorgeous!!

As soon as I opened my package (last year) I knew I had to take photos and share.

Right away I had to comb every type of fleece I could find. I had some Alpaca that I could not get processed very well, ok I sucked at it. So when I used my comb and Hackle on it, I could hardly believe how well it worked...WOW!!!, is all I can say. Here is some of the first fiber i processed with my set...yellow and green cormo.

This set is so much fun and easy to use, that less then a month later (July last year) I ordered a 2 pitch hand comb set...What a beautiful set. Works a treat and can be taken to any spinning get together.
I can hardly wait to get my hands on the blending hackle I ordered a few months ago. It should be on its way soon. Eric's Fiber tools are so popular and well made, that the waiting time is about 10 to 12 weeks...I can tell you from personal experience they are well worth the wait! I love my BMH tools and don't know how I ever processed fiber without them. Well done Beth and Eric!!

Hansen Craft Mini Spinner Bag

I made a padded bag for my Electric Hansen Craft Mini Spinner. I'm so tickled at how it turned out that I might make a few to sell in my ArtFire Shop. It's super soft and the Mini Spinner fits into it like a glove. The removeable hard board bottom is covered with the same soft fabric. That fabric can be removed and washed. I also made a little drawstring bag for the Mini Spinners cords.

Local Farm Eggs

About 2 weeks ago Andrew & I went to our locally owned grocery store and found these local fresh farm eggs...WOW! None of them are white. Greens, browns and a few golden ones. I put a white one in so you can tell the difference. The white one looks bigger but it isn't, it is actually a bit smaller. Anyway the taste is wonderful and all 3 dozen have been eaten already. We eat them boiled and without the yolk.

Dyeing Cormo

I dyed some cormo fleece the other day. Still have a bit left to dye yet. I ordered a Hybrid 4 pitch English Comb and Hackle set in oak with Mahogany also a 2 pitch comb for shorter fibers. Birthday gift to myself. Birthday isn't till Fathers Day and the set needs to be made yet. So fingers crossed i'll get it before then. Hubby seems to be pleased about me getting all my boxed fiber(fleeces) processed...But I need more...hehehehe. Can't get enough of that fluffy goodness!!

Processing Lamb Fiber

I purchased a Lamb Fleece (1/4 Romney X 3/4 Merino) from an Etsy seller and started processing it. First I turned up the hot water heater so that I wouldn't have to keep boiling water. I soaked it in Wool scour with multiple rinses and dried it by the heater overnight. I then have to open up the locks "by hand" which takes me days!!...Sooooo I decided to get out the credit card and flex it a bit...and purchase a wool picker. Did a little research and decided to get this one "Fancy Kitty Studio Bench Wool Picker". I got the legs, top and end caps so it will look like a table when not in use. I can put my drum carder on it also. I do believe it will be way to tall for me and I might have to cut the legs down. It's 39" tall and i'm not quite 60" tall. Weeeee it should be here on Wednesday and I have that day off...hehehehe. I'm so excited, now I can process all those raw fleeces laying around. Here are a few photos of the fleece i've been working on.....with a little help from violet. 1st photo: washing fleece, 2nd photo: opened locks ready for drum carder, 3rd photo: Kitty sleeping in the clean locks.

HOW CUTE IS THAT?? I bought this cute knitting pattern along with 3 other patterns (Fuzzy Mitten Lamb, Pug with Anorak, Chipmunk with Pullover) from Barbara Prime FuzzyMitten . I'm thinking about getting the Monkey Boy and Girl also...hehehe.

Andy's Hacky Sack Hoodie

I started a sweater for Andrew March 6th Called Hacky Sack Hoodie. He's pretty tuff on sweaters so I used a yarn that I don't have to worry too much about washing care. Red Heart Super Saver Fleck...purchased at Walmart. The pattern comes from a book called Son of Stitch'n Bitch tis a really nice male pattern book. The pattern has a basic rib hem and cuffs. I did a rib/roll hem and I plan on doing the same for the cuffs. If I were to do this pattern again, I will put ribs around the hood so it doesn't roll inward and ribs on the sides of the pocket, it just needs a bit of finishing touches.

Fuzz Slippers

How about these...cute and washable. The sole and body are crocheted and the cuff is knit. I like knit cuffs better then crocheted, they have more flex and bounce back nicer. I used 2 strands of Caron Mill Ends for the sole, 1 strand Caron Simply Soft with 1 strand eyelash for the body, and 2 strands Caron Simply Soft for the cuff.

I should write up a pattern for these, I might want to make them again.

Crocheted Swirling Bag

Finished this bag a few weeks ago made from Peaches & Cream Cotton. The pattern is called Crocheted Swirling Bag. I added some handles one long and one short. The long one slips into the short one and it has a drawstring to close. I also added a lining and a strong ribbon to the handles so they won't stretch out.

Not enough time to get the holiday gifts made...well make Gift Certificates. hehehe. I gave Andrew a gift certificate for a handknit hat of his choosing to be made by me. He has already picked out the design Witch Cats Hat . Scroll down a bit till you come to an orange hat with cats all over it....the free pattern comes in an English pdf version aswell as french, just need to scroll a tiny bit more to get to the pdf. Hand dyed the wool (multi colour and cocoa brown) today and ready to start on it this evening while watching some british TV programs...like Victorian Christmas. The pattern calls for a dk weight wool but i'll use a worsted weight instead. I feel that the hat will be to small otherwise.

Yippy skippy my Iris Garden Socks are finished. Pattern is free and can be obtained from a yahoo group called Six_Sox_Knitalong . I did a few alterations…Made it top down, short row cushion heel, star toe alternating 1 knit row and 1 purl row. The yarn used is Regia Stretch (black) and Knit Picks Bare - Superwash Merino/Nylon that I hand-dyed in a rainbow stripe. Oh...my crocs are wet from moving sprinklers....not dirty.

You can download this pattern or buy the magazine, Interweave Knits, Fall 2007. It's the magazine on the bottom left. I was able to get mine from an ebay seller.

I made the top different as to look more like kilt hose....How I start these socks….

k1,p2 rib for 4 inches.

k1,p1 rib for 2 1/2 inches.

Follow pattern 1 through 24 as pattern/with decrease.

Follow pattern 13 through 24 no decrease.

Have you ever seen such a cool device? This is a "My Passport" 320 external hard drive with a usb cable. How cool is that? Andrews Alienware gaming computer is almost dead....it's in hospice. So he has my Alienware Gaming computer which is not dead but on its last legs and has been acting up tons lately.... so I need to get all my pictures, csm files, knitting files, knitting pdf files and a few odds and sods off it.Our lovely glamour girl Saffy has to pose next to it...how cute!

Tall Bearded Iris

Last fall hubby and I built some raised beds along the fence line. I purchased about 30 plus different Tall Bearded Iris from 2 ebay sellers. Here are some lovely photos of 3 inbloom that I took today (Monday) right after a very light rain.

The Yellow/red are called Michigan Pride, the Pinks w/salmon beards are Magical Encounter, and the lavender is called Diversion.

2 Foot Cut

After having it extremely long for about 25 years now, I went ahead and did it. Decided on a hair style a few years ago but never trusted anybody to cut it. While in England, I had my sister-in-law's personal hair stylist cut my hair in the comfort of her home. How cool is that?, call and he shows up at your door. Anyway, got about 2 foot of hair cut off and don't regret it not one bit. All I need now is somebody to keep up my hair style in the U.S

Look what arrived today....IT'S FIXED!! I sent the broken ribber part to New Zealand to be fixed by the lovely Jacquie Grant, the maker of the NZAK(New Zealand Auto Knitter).

It's unbelievable, i'm gobsmacked....looks amazing...WOW!!

She cut it off half way down and machined a new bottom half, then pinned and welded it. How fantastic is that? I would love to test it out, if only I had the rest of the machine cleaned and ready to use.

I started Iris yesterday....looks lovely so far. It will not be used as a scarf...too much work involved, It may be a dresser scarf instead.
Beads are from Fire Mountain Gems. Sead bead #8 Trans. Rainbow Amber. Fringe beads FLT TRI 5x5mm Vitrail. I bought 1/2 kilo of the sead beads which is overboard on the amount, but it was way cheaper.

Knit Picks Order

Yippy Skippy!!! I received my Knit Picks order today, but I still need to finish a project before I start another one. The classic fixed circular needle is for the next project... Iris. I could not resist the Nickel-Plated DPN Sock Set... it was on sale (as cheap as chips $19.99). I also had to get the Harmony sock needle set for airline travel. Hopefully I'll be able to take them with me on international flights...fingers crossed. The Chart Keeper is great for lace work charts. I needed another one do to the fact my charts for Mystery Stole 4, aka (Serendipity) are huge and i'll set the keepers up side by side. It should work a treat.

CSM Row Counters

My CSM Row Counters...

One is a bit oily and fuzzy but you get the idea.

Strap the counter to the leg of table. Tape the wire to the underside of table, then tape end to the part that holds the crank in place. The end is magnetic and reads when a magnet passes by it. Sooo a magnet needs to be placed on the crank so it can be read. Voila!! Works a treat!! Thanks Barry!!

Monitor Bit the Dust

My monitor bit the dust a few weeks ago and had to replace it. I'm not too keen on LCD Monitors...I have found that the CRT screens are nicer for gaming, but are harder to find. Soooo, I did some research and found an LCD Monitor I liked. The Gateway FHD2401...It looks fantastic!!! weeee 24" widescreen, HD, 1080p. We took a trip to Best Buy and of course had to check it out. We had the clerk hook it up in the store to make sure there wasn't any dead pixels....I would've hated to have to drive 200 miles one way to return it. I found that Best Buy seems to be the place to get good deals and have yet to have a bad experience with them.

Caps for a Cure

I got a couple more caps finished this month for Caps for a Cure Yahoo Group. I knit caps when I want to knit but, don't feel like picking up any of my wip. Anyway one cap is called Stripe Pixie Knot...made up pattern as I went along. The other is Fruitcake Cap. First clue today...Mystery stole 4. Clues will be given weekly, September 12th the group will close to new members, sign up now!! The final clue will go out on October 10th. I have decided to use 100% Natural Baby Alpaca, light fingering with Transp. Rainbow Creamsoda beads. I have knit lace socks before but haven't truely knit anything like this. I hope I can keep up with it and not toss it to the side. When finished i'll use it to lay across my dresser.

Almost got my Iris Garden socks finished. Pattern can be found by joining Six_Sox_Knitalong yahoo group. I did a few alterations to the pattern…Made it top down, short row cushion heel, star toe (alternating knit and purl rows). The yarn that I'm using is black Regia Stretch and my own Hand-dyed Rainbow Stripe.

Update: Parents are doing great!! Esp. the Mommy!! Weeeee....but the house still has a hole in it, The man that went through it didn't have insurance...stupid idiot!! My homeowners insurance took over but it was very hard to work with the adjuster. Tuesday we settled for 3 grand less then what it will cost us to do repairs and we still don't have the check. I know, I know, stupid but we're just tired of fighting. Should have went to the state insurance commissioner but by the time that would get settled, winter would be upon us and our house would still have a hole in it...I don't mind the cold but I don't want to pay those utility bills...lol.
Anyway on a good note....I bought a Weber Q300 grill for my birthday. It's fantastic!! It Has a heavy cast iron grill. yippy!! Click on image to enlarge

We have had 2 very tragic eventful days. Got a call on Tuesday morning ^AM ...Your father has had a stroke and is in ICU, 6 hours later still in the AM your mother was sent to ICU, she too has had a stroke...OMG. I rush to get packed up and travel to my parents home and hospital...2 hours away.

NEXT DAY....Hubby and I are at the hospital and get a call from the Police department at our home town....there has been a car accident ...OMG "Thinking that it is hubbys family in England" Nope thankfully....somebody has driven through your front yard took out front fence, side fence, aviary, 2 gates, BBQer, gas line, yard swing, and many many other things and crashed through your house...into your lovely new kitchen and of course took out 6 windows and wall....OMFG!!! MY CATS ....MY CATS...MY PARENTS.....MY PARENTS.....What next...sigh I am still in shock...Parents are doing very well and are expected to have full recoveries...kitties are all here and are shookup a bit but happy to see us....again....I am still in shock! Have not slept for almost 3 days. The most sad, is the man driving the car died....I am glad we were not home. At the time and place the car went through the house is the exact time and place we would have been standing there (no kidding)....OMG!! I'm still shook up...need to calm down. Need food. Cannot eat, no kitchen and no place to go eat at this time in this 1 horse town...sigh......oh oh oh...so much rubble that flew everywhere even in my new bathroom that is around the corner from the kitchen....go figure...the utility man said he swept most of it up in the bathroom so he wouldn't crush glass into the new floor while trying to get to the hot water heater.

Cable Kilt Hose

This is designed for a special friend who visits his family in scotland often. The yarn has been spun from a lovely corriedale fleece that I bought as a raw fleece. I scoured, drum carded and spun it into a 2 ply sport with a guage of about 5 stitches to an inch on size 4 needles.
This is a rough pattern done using 1 circular needle(magic loop method)….Remember i’m still working on it as I go.

c6f = Slip 3 sts. onto a cable needle and hold to front of work. K3, then K the 3 sts off cable needle.

Cast on 72 sts. join.

CUFF:
rib…k1,p1 for 4 inches. dec. 8sts evenly around. Should now have 64sts…32 on each half of the circular needles. continue ribbing for another inch.

LEG:
rnds 1-7: k7, p2, k2, p2, k6, p2, k2, p2, k7…first half of needles and do the same on the second half.
rnd 8: k7, p2, k2, p2, c6f, p2, k2, p2, k6..first half of needles and do the same on the second half. follow rnds 1-8 for your desired length of sock.
When you have reached the desired length, divide the stitches so that the 32 stitches from the front of the sock are on a stitch holder and 32 stitches from the back of the sock are on needles. Cables will be on the side.

HEEL FLAP
$ sl1, k1, repeat from $, turn.
sl1, purl 31, turn. repeat 1 and 2 for 3 inches.

HEEL TURN
sl the first stitch, k16, sl1, k1, pass slip stitch over(psso), k1 turn.
sl1, p3, p2tog, p1, turn.
From then on you purl or knit to 1 stitch before the gap.
On knit rows you knit to the first stitch before the gap, sl that stitch and knit the stitch on the other side of the gap, then psso, knit one , turn.
On purl rows, purl to gap, purl stitches together on either side of gap, purl one, turn. You will have finished the heel turn on a purl row and you should have 18 stitches.

GUSSET
For first half of circular needles (magic loop method) Knit across heel stitches then pick up 17 stitches along the heel flap, knit and purl across half the instep stitches(do not do cables). Second half of the needles…knit and purl the second half of the instep stitches(do not do cables), pick up 17 stitches along heel flap, knit 9 stitches from the heel. should have 42 stitches on each half of needles.

I now switch to size 2 circular needle. This smaller size needle works for me because the recipient has long narrow feet. I will also follow the instep pattern except the cables.

GUSSET Decreasing
RND 1: First half….knit 22, place marker, k2tog, knit 18.
Second half…knit 18, place marker, sl1, k1, psso, knit 22.
RND 2: knit and purl first and second half. (no not do cables)
RND 3: first half ….knit to marker, k2tog, knit to end of first needle. second half…knit to marker, sl1, k1, psso, knit to end of second half.
continue rnds 2 and 3 until you have 32 stitches on each half.

FOOT continue until you have reached 2 inches from desired length of foot.

TOE
Star toe set-up:
* k16 place marker, repeat from * 2 more times. Work remaining 16 stitches.
rnd 1: k2tog before each stitch marker and at the end.
rnd 2: knit
Work rnd 1 & 2 6 times total.
Work rnd 1 until 8 stitches remain.
Kitchener the end closed.

Watermelon (non-superwash) Sock Yarn

I managed to put up 2 skeins of Watermelon sock yarn on Etsy icandyarn this evening. Both sold right away. What I don't understand is why one hank of yarn that I posted about 3 months ago is still for sale.

It's absolutely lovely and is the same price as the Watermelon (non-superwash). Oh well....I'll use it for me if it doesn't sell!!Weeee.

I have been knitting on my friends kilt hose and it is coming along real well. I would like to change the cables to a more complex pattern but it's way too late. Time for a break from the hose thou... in need of a little knitting for me kinda thing...

England Trip

Well we got back home last night at 1:30 am. Our flights were all on time and our seat assignments were not messed with. Had a hard time keeping my eyes open for the drive home (about 200 miles) ...yiks i was driving. I really don't know why we don't do the frequent flyer miles we would have received over 10,000 miles each. hmmmm. Anyway, it's good to be home. The kitties greeted us at the door with lots of meows, then followed by running wildly about the house.

Well our flights to England were not very nice. The first flight was cancelled and all the connecting flights had to be rescheduled. All our seat assignments were all messed up...Not very nice!! So basicly our 22 hour trip took 30 hours and lots of our toiletries were taken off us. I wish when a person books an international flight they would give a print out of what a person can and cannot take from one airport to the next. apparently all your gels and liquids cannot be more then 3.5 ounces in one country and have to be in lipzock bags and you cannot have more then 100 grams in each ziplock bag in another country...whats up with that....like im going to flush somebody's eyes out with contact lens solution..lol. or my 4 ounce instead 3.5 ounce toothpaste will kill bad breath. I should have squeezed out half of it in the bin...lol. But of course one has to be kind or they may not board the plane...don't want to cause a stink.
It's early morning (8am) here at the in-laws. We have been up for 4 hours and they are still in bed.lol. The first order of the day is to shower the stink off the traveling bodies. Then tea and crumpets with spreadable prawn cheese...yummy!! Later Andrew and I will walk into town and see if there has been any changes in the last 2 years. Me thinks we need to do a 'pub crawl' this evening like the locals...lolol. I'm looking forward to a pint of cider. What I should do is make a 'to do' list, but I don't want to waste my precious holiday time...i'm supprised i'm posting to my blog. I might post some photos later if I can find an SD card slot on this puter.. I don't think it has one... how silly is that?

Christmas with the Family

We had a wonderful christmas with my family. Chrismas was spent at my mom and dads. Not many of us left. Granny, My Mother and Father, Auntie Sharon, Cousin Billy, Nephew Ryan, Hubby, myself and a 22 pound Prime Rib! lol. Dinner ... 22 pound Prime Rib with Au jus , green beans, asparagus, brussel sprouts, baked potato, fresh baked buns, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and homemade banana almond ice cream. YUMMY!! Dads head felt like it was going to blow up, so he spent most (all) of christmas in bed. Poor thing didn't even get to eat until very late that evening.

I knit socks for everybody this year. Andrew and I waited till we got home (wednesday) to open our gifts for each other. HEEE HAAAW... we made out like champs. My parents bought us a beautiful 7pc. bedroom set delivered 3 weeks ago...how cool is that...? I got lots of spinning fiber from Copper Moose and Creatively Dyed Yarn , knitting books ( Bead Knitted Bags , Vogue Knitting: Caps & Hats ), a crochet book ( Amigurumi! ) , and a gaming book . Hubby got a gaming gadget ( XFPS 3.0 Sniper ), a ( My Book 500 GB external hard drive ) and the good ole' christmas String Bikinis underwear. lol. (click on the string bikinis from the product gallery to see how sexy they are). oh, I did get an xbox 360 pink gaming controller..hehehe.

I hope everybody enjoyed sharing chrismas with their family and friends and got plenty of food in their bellies.

Got a Package

Got a package from Knit Picks a few days ago...Yippy!! I ordered a set of interchangable Harmany needle tips. I will use these needles for making eyelash wiggy style chemo caps. If you have ever dropped a stitch using eyelash yarn it is a pain to pick up the stitches. So to avoid the dropped stitches altogether, I bought these needles to help get a better grip on the yarn...fingers crossed...I also bought a book on wraps called "wrap STYLE". If you click on the more images of this book from Knit Picks site and 5-8 tab, I plan on making "Wandering Aron Fields wrap", the green one. I wanted to use some swish yarn for this but the color I want "Lemongrass Heather" is out of stock till Dec., so I think i'll use the swish Natural undyed in the same weight and dye my own. Just think superwash wool in a worsted weight that you can machine wash. How cool is that? Hip Hip for Knit Picks... click on image to enlarge

Drum Carding

I did some drum carding the other day. Black/Gray Washed Corriedale Fleece....is it lovely or what? I am making a 2 ply sock yarn for kilt hose. As for the drum carder...What a wonderful piece of equipment. Mine is a Strauch 405 Finest chain driven, comes with everything you could possibly need. I like the chain driven...no slipping bands to mess with. I did buy it from Copper Moose and they threw in a book called Color in Spinning. It looks to me like they are throwing in fiber this time. The book has lots of info on blending fibers on a drum carder. click on images to enlarge

Functional Replacement

Does anybody remember when I broke a peg on my lovely Majacraft Wheel Skein Winder....oh I was so angry, I had only used it a few times. Well, I made a FUNCTIONAL replacement, it's not pretty but works a treat. I replaced 2 pegs with springs, then put nails in the center so they wouldn't bend. After I wound my skein, I carefully pulled out the nails with plyers. The springs bend and VOILA....the skein easily comes right off.

Thought it was time to post something. So here's something....Some of my own hand dyed merino sock yarn called Bumble Bee Jacquard. Man, it was a tough bugger to make. I planned on selling some on etsy, but i'm not sure now....took soooooo long to make. It was dyed in four stages. I'll make socks with it soon to see how it turned out.

I have also been watering the lawn profusely....What a waste of time, it's been raining most of the day today. I know,I know should have looked at the weather channel, but it's Big Sky Montana in August....Suppose to be very hot and dry.

Bathroon Project ....Tub

Here is the paint I used on the outside of the tub. Quart size(more then plenty for this project),Oil base.....get a new paint brush designed for oil base paint and use it for only that. Don't forget to get some odorless solvent to clean your brush. My Hubby illustrates books for a living, he is the one who tought me how to clean a brush properly. If you are going to use your brush everyday for about a week you can just rest it in solvent until you use it the next day. I put the solvent in a glass jar and rest my brush in that(outside and out of the sun). When you take it out of the solvent you wash it with soap (dishsoap works)and water. You can use the same solvent for the week...thats what I did anyway.

I wire brushed(did't really need the brushing), lightly sanded then washed the tub with soapy water then let dry, about an hour or so. Put on 1 coat of primer....it covered nicely. Let the primer dry over night. Put on 1 coat of paint and let dry over night. Put on another coat of paint let dry over night and finially the 3rd. coat ...then I let it dry for a week. I could have even let it dry for a couple of weeks. I takes awhile for it to dry hard, so don't mess with it...lol.. Our humidity was very high when I was painting it...we never have high humidity...go figure.

The shower fixtures are in and the kitties had to help. In the photo the shower head is not on and neither are the curtains...but they are now. check out the lights,,.. I just love them. The shower head is one of those large sunflower/porcelain watering can type. And the curtains are of course...White cloth and clear curtain liners. The trim around the door needs to be put up, the windows need to be put in, the wall that the windows go into needs to be done, the rest of the tile needs to be put down and the closet needs to be built, oh the sink isn't put in yet either, but I can bathe...weeeee.

hmmmm my summer project might be finished by christmas.lol.

Bathroom Project...So Far So Good

Today was somewhat busy and very messy. I wire brushed and sanded the cast iron clawfoot tub and the legs. This tub was a hand-me-down from my family. When the tub is finished it will be white with chrome feet. So far so good. I primed the feet then painted them...what a mess, but they turned out better then I expected. After that I primed the tub, it won't be able to be painted till tomorrow evening....needs plenty of drying time. hmmm the Pics make the tub look rusty, but it isn't...it used to be painted brown...yuk. We hope to get the tub in sometime this week...fingers crossed. We still have to put the tile flooring in first.

Here is what the hubby and one of the cats (Moon) was doing, while I was working. Andrews watering and Moon must have been pooped from all the excitement....lol. She loves to sleep in the garden swing.

Eyelet Brim Cotton Cap

Materials list
1 Ball TLC Cotton Plus or equivalent
Size 7 needles (36 " circular or longer for Magic Loop Method) or (16"circular & double pointed)
Yarn needle

Instructions
Cast on 84 sts. Join to make rnd.
Knit with main yarn until piece measures 4 inches from beginning (unrolled).
Be creative....add stripes of different colors for interest.

Decreasing
*Knit 12, k2tog, repeat from * for 1 rnd.
Knit next rnd.
*Knit 11, k2tog, repeat from*
Knit next rnd.
*Knit 10, k2tog, repeat from *
Knit next rnd.
Follow this decreasing pattern and knitting the next rnd...until you get to *Knit 5, k2tog, repeat from *.
*Knit 4, k2tog, repeat from *
*Knit 3, k2tog, repeat from *
*Knit 2, k2tog, repeat from *
*Knit 1, k2tog, repeat from *
*k2tog, repeat from *.
Cut yarn leaving a long enough tail to weave into every stitch several times and pull tight.

Brim
With the right side facing, pick up 84 sts along the bottom edge.
Knit 1 rnd.
*Knit 4, (Eyelet Bar Increase) with your left needle pick up a bar from front to back and knit it. The bar is between the stitch on your right needle and the stitch on your left needle. Repeat from * for 1 rnd.

Knit 2 rnds.
Knit 2, eyelet bar increase, * knit 5, eyelet bar increase, repeat from * for 1 rnd, end with a knit 3.

Knit 1 rnd.
*Knit 6, eyelet bar increase, repeat from * for 1 rnd.
Knit 1 rnd.
Purl 1 rnd.
Knit 1 rnd.
Purl 1 rnd.
Cast off.
Finishing
Weave in all loose ends.

Optional Alterations
Cap might be a bit small for most with hair. Cast on 90sts using size 8 needles.
Your decreasing will change to...(*Knit 13, k2tog, repeat from* for 1 rnd.). Knit the next rnd, then follow decreasing instructions above.
Can substitute a YO for a Bar increase, this will make the eyelets more pronounced.

Brim will change to...where the first bar increase starts...(*knit5, bar increase, repeat form * for 1 rnd). Wherever the next bar increases are, you must center them between the previous ones the best you can.

"Of Course, its different"

I received a new ebay package in the mail yesterday from Canada. Another csm....weeee. How exciting is that? It was sooo squeeky clean, not a bit of dirt and or oil on it anywhere. It seems such a shame to have to put oil on it, but it must be done if I want to use it. Andrew (dh) asked me if it was different then the other 2 that I already have. My responce, "Of course, they have different cylinder sizes."hehehe. So does that mean I get no birthday present in a week and a half ?..lol.

I would like to purchase a compound cylinder set-up for my NZAK but the funds are gone. Well, I do have funds saved but they are for an emergency only! Maybe in a few months, fingers crossed. Anyway here are a few photos from receiving the package, to it all put together. I have already knit and ribbed on it. yippy!!
